The device acts as a pair of goggles that give independent displays to each eye, simulating 3D, and the device contains a number of sensors so when you move your head you can actually look around the game world. The promise of the device has already led to its Kickstarter earning almost 10 times ($2.4 million) its goal of $250,000.
Now, chief executive officer Brendan Iribe has surprised us all by announcing that along with the upcoming PC launch of the Oculus Rift, there are plans to have mobile support ready as soon as possible to that initial release. Unfortunately for the company that fancies itself the leader of mobile gaming, there are no plans for iOS support, only Android. As yet, there is no word on mobile games that will support the accessory.
